Job Description

Job Summary:  The transportation broker directs the third-party logistics of moving our product from its point of origin to its final destination using land carriers. The brokers assumes responsibility for every aspect of the shipment and may use sophisticated computer systems to track shipments for multiple customers.

Job Duties:

  • New Business Development
  • Proactively creating opportunities for additional sales with new and existing customers
  • Seek to improve sales revenue in line with established sales targets
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of all sales, customers & vendors
  • Track and update shipment status to customers
  • Manage multiple pick-ups and deliveries
  • Respond to customer concerns and queries professionally
  • Use tools and relationships to identify potential carriers
  • Verify carrier safety and other qualifications
  • Make intelligent and tactful negotiation of rates and services
  • Must be able to effectively communication service expectations to carriers

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior produce experience in sales, 3-5 years highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent, preferred
  • Prior Logistics experience and knowledge, preferred
  • Strong customer service background
  • Computer proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Critical thinker with strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Highly motivated with a desire to be successful
  • Comprehensive understanding of market conditions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Resourceful and effective negotiation skills
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

 

Must follow all instruction related to Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Agricultural Practices and HACCP programs. Must report to the Food Safety Department or their direct supervisor any problem or irregular situation related to food safety.

Typical Physical Demands: Regular use of hands to manipulate phones and computer key board.  Sit and stand.  

 

Typical Work Conditions:  Work is performed in an office environment.  Employee frequently interacts directly with staff members during the workday.
