SUMMARY OF POSITION:   Responsible for the purchasing and management of the supply chain for direct materials, indirect materials and selected services for the operating company. This includes responsibilities as a member of the Global Supply Chain team for group supply chain decisions, commodity management across many COMPANY operating companies, outsourcing of units, assembly and parts and meeting local and corporate supply chain guidelines. This may also include freight and logistics management in the OC.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Position general responsibilities are as follows:   Sets OC strategies and programs based on OC and global supply chain strategies and programs.   Ensure materials and service suppliers meet total costs, quality, delivery, service and technical support requirements of the operating company and COMPANY.   Ensures critical component suppliers are certified and formally evaluated.   Ensures proactive decisions for make vs. buy for NPD and consolidation programs   Lead decisions for Supply Chain lean materials delivery processes   Ensure the operating company meets requirements established in the Finance and Control Manual Purchasing section 3.05.   May supervise Supply Chain Managers and Supply Chain Specialists to meet Supply Chain requirements along with possibly managing freight and logistics management personnel.   Meets responsibilities as a member of the Global Supply Chain Team for total COMPANY supply chain decisions and initiatives. This includes leading supply chain initiatives across more than one operating company and actively participating on initiative teams, meetings and conference calls. This also includes participation in determining supply chain strategies and program development.   Manages supply chain using the COMPANY’S Supplier Evaluation Program as the base along with any local program for continuous improvement of product and service suppliers to the OC.   Manages cross functional teams to implement supplier programs with project management responsibility over the timing, cost and deliverables of the program within the operating company and with multiple operating companies.   If responsibility includes freight sets up an overall freight and logistic strategy and programs to ensure continuous improvements in meeting delivery, ongoing reduced damage and improved total cost value.   Follows COMPANY’S NPD process and ensures Supply Chain is a member of any OC NPD initiative.   Follows the Global Value Analysis process for implementation of cost savings programs that involve multi function and multi operating company resources. This includes product and service value analysis initiatives that may involve operations and Engineering.   Works to manage the supply chain to meet long term cash conversion days and delivery needs.   Takes the lead to resolve any major quality, delivery or service issue with the supply chain and ensures a permanent resolution is put in place.   Initiates savings initiatives, builds a business case for a decision and presents to OC and Global Supply Chain team.  This includes product and service value analysis initiatives that may involve operations in other functions.   Keeps up-to-date on all factors that may effect pricing, quality, delivery and service with the suppliers and products including competitive trends. Takes steps to avoid or minimize negative trends.   Takes initiatives to obtain training to learn about state-of-the-art technologies in product areas and purchasing practices.   Negotiates contracts that best meet the operating company and COMPANY’S objectives.   Provides Supply Chain expertise and training to other functions, such as services, that manage costs where a supplier is used.   Fulfill the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position   Conduct yourself in accordance with the company code of ethics policy at all times   Requirements WORK ENVIRONMENT:   Internal contact is necessary with engineering, accounting, operations, finance and legal to evaluate business cases, supplier programs and other purchasing related issues.   External contact is necessary with product and service sales representatives and senior management of suppliers.  Some contact will be required with the operating company’s customers for sales and marketing initiatives and to resolve issues.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:    Responsible for managing the supplier’s sales representatives and management team to ensure the requirements are met.   May also supervise Supply Chain Managers and Supply Chain Specialists and freight management personnel within the operating company that support the supply chain management.   KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:   Excellent skills in negotiating, leading change, communications, project management, analysis and supplier strategy is required.   Team involvement, customer service orientation and management skills are a must.   Experience in purchasing information technology and food service and retail equipment products are a plus.   Understanding of logistics, freight processes and options.   This position requires travel up to 20%.   EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:   A minimum of seven years of supply chain and logistics management experience preferably with similar products used by COMPANY is required.   A bachelor’s degree in a technical, finance or business related area is required.    MBA is Preferred.   ISM C.P.M Certification is preferred.   APICS CPIM and/or CSCP Certifications are preferred.
