Summary:
Responsible for the safe and efficient handling of materials in accordance with all company policies, procedures and standards of operation. Responsible for the unloading and processing of refuse materials for incineration, and working with other plant personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
- Handle materials in a productive manner to maintain the even distribution of refuse product to the incinerator in a clean, safe and efficient manner.
- Communicates with delivery drivers to effectively secure and/or empty refuse product in the proper unloading location.
- Receive and safely unload refuse product using the company’s operating procedures at all times.
- Operate scale system when necessary in calculating incoming waste stream.
- Identify and classify various waste streams so as to insure safe plant operations.
- Respond to and clean spills immediately using necessary tools (e.g. rake, broom, hose, etc.) and dispose of spilled material and all contaminated articles using appropriate company procedures.
- Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
- Works overtime and rotating shifts
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months related experience in an industrial environment is required. Two years experience in an industrial environment as a Material Handler or comparable position is preferred.
- Skills, experience, knowledge and ability sufficient to complete safety, operational and other required training within a scheduled time period.
- Communication skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
- Technical knowledge and skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
- Possess ability and mechanical skills sufficient to perform regular routine tasks to include, but not limited to opening vessel and equipment access doors, placing and removing furnace access equipment, overhead protection and staging, operating power tools, and performing minor mechanical repairs to plant equipment or structures.
