Job Title: Supervisor, Distribution Ctr. Company: NEC Logistics Location: Rancho Dominguez, CA Description: Supervises staff performing receiving, warehousing, kitting, order picking and shipping activities. Monitors inventory levels and ensures the accuracy of all warehouse documents and files. Ensures adherence to company safety and security policies and procedures, provides training / guidance to staff and ensures that all warehouse equipment is in good repair. Ensures customers’ special requests are carried out and all problems and / or discrepancies are investigated. Works under general supervision. JOB DUTIES: Supervises the receipt and warehousing of foreign and domestic products and production materials. Supervises the checking of goods received against purchase orders and / or bills of lading and investigates and resolves discrepancies as appropriate. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of all shipping / receiving documentation and ensures accuracy. Prepares and distributes pick lists and supervises the packing of finished products for shipping. Contacts freight carriers to make arrangements for shipments as required. Reviews work orders and prepares work schedules. Monitors inventory levels and assigns staff to perform physical inventories. Researches discrepancies and advises Manager of problems as required. Assists in the implementation of new software and hardware to automate and improve workflow processes. Reviews current warehouse operating procedures. Ensures all warehouse operations complies with applicable safety and security codes, regulations and policies. Supervises evacuation, safety and security activities. Ensures that all warehouse and related equipment and facilities are fully operational and in good repair. Initiates maintenance repairs as required. Contacts freight carriers, staff from various NEC divisions, subsidiaries and end users to resolve problems regarding shipping dates, discrepancies, damages, etc. Receives inquiries and requests from customers. Investigates discrepancies and ensures customer requests are completed. Reviews current warehouse space allocation and makes recommendations for improvements. Implements and ensures adherence to approved changes. Assists in planning warehouse layout changes and in estimating future warehouse fixture, supply, and equipment needs. Performs all duties inherent in a supervisory role. Ensures staff training / cross-training, evaluates staff performance and hires, terminates, promotes and recommends salary actions. Adjusts staffing plans to accommodate unpredictable and urgent projects. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
