Job Title: Import Logistics Manager Company: Family Dollar Location: Charlotte, NC Description: General Summary: Lead a team of import logistic professionals to support the expansion of Family Dollars Global Sourcing initiative. Develop a high-performance global logistics operation that optimizes the flow of imported product, information, and communication between our import factories/vendors, Merchants, service providers, and distribution centers. Principal Duties Responsibilities: Define and implement the import logistics strategy, vision, and goals for the import logistics team. Manage overseas freight forwarder/consolidator operations for all origins; to include shipping requirements, bookings, document compliance, ocean carrier allocations, tracking tracing, and all facets of domestic delivery. Responsible for freight forwarder/consolidator, ocean carrier, transload warehouse and dray carrier relationships and their performance. Ensure daily oversight of all third party providers and develop scorecards on performance. Establish updated operating standards (SOPs) for freight forwarder/consolidator and ocean carriers to support global sourcing growth and cost saving initiatives. Utilize exception based reporting; leveraging databases technology to ensure world class execution. Ensure on time delivery of import orders to Family Dollar DCs while managing cost and service commitments. Manage flow of goods through US transload warehouses to minimize transit time. Participate in the development and review of service provider RFPs and associated implementations. Assist with ocean carrier rate negotiations, provider selection, analysis, and maintenance. Oversee audit of ocean freight and service provider invoices, reconciliation on landed costs. Supervise communicate annual volume forecasting and quarterly review/adjustments on import flow to internal departments on a weekly and monthly basis. Lead performance improvement programs throughout the import area. Maintain and update Import Manual as well as general operating SOPs. Conduct quarter end inventory analysis and provide results to the Finance group Partner with the Import Compliance team to ensure the highest level of performance on our customs compliance program.
