Job Title: Operations Manager- Logistics Company: Gavilon  Location: Omaha, NE Description: Position Summary: Operations Manager of Ocean freight with minimum 3 years experience in ship operations/logistics. Alternatively, we would consider a candidate with no experience in Ocean Freight but with minimum of 3 years business experience who would undergo on the job-training under Marine Operations Manager and will learn all aspects of operations of time-charter and voyage charter ships. This will include full understanding of charter parties and meaning and application of c/p clauses, calculation of Demurrage/Despatch, coordinating of ships accounting with accounts department, giving voyage orders to ships, communicating with agents, ship owners, charterers and brokers, stemming bunkers, and preparing voyage results. Position Responsibilities: · To operate ships on both Voyage and Time Charter smoothly and efficiently with minimum expense and risk. This includes voyage planning, agency appointment, instructions to master and agents and continuous tracking of ships' movements until voyage is completed. · Handling problems proactively is vital. · To insure timely Freight Payments and release of Bills of Lading. · To settle Demurrage/Despatch with ship owners under Charter Parties and with Buyers and Sellers of cargo under Sale/Purchase Contracts. · To coordinate shipment executions with other departments and traders internally and keep them closely advised of any foreseeable problems. · To control and manage accounts receivables, payables and accruals. · To eventually negotiate and finalize charter party details on ships fixed by chartering. Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills: · Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required · Must have minimum 3 years working experience in business environment. Preference will be given to those worked in areas related to ocean freight and/or bulk commodity export activities. · Must be aggressive, self motivated, able to work under pressure with fast changing situations. · Should have analytical mind and be good with numbers. · Must have excellent communications, written as well as verbal. · Should have computer skills – preferably know Microsoft word and excel. · Must have quick grasp and be willing to learn new things including reading text books and put in hard work. · Must be familiar with elementary accounting terms and knowledge.  Modify / Close Posting
