Supply Chain Associate - Buyer Employee develops Supplier relationships, implements cost reduction programs, eliminates waste in the Supply Chain value stream while adding value, negotiates contracts and inventory programs that enhance Supplier offerings to Company while maintaining goals and objectives set forth by Management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned. Strategic : Perform on site audits for potential Suppliers and determine as a Team if they meet Company requirements; continuously consolidate global and local demand with Suppliers creating negotiating advantages Negotiate and prepare global and local contracts and inventory programs for all commodities with approved Suppliers Review contracts based on anniversary dates or Supplier performance and determine renewal or cancellation Implement creative cost reduction programs on all commodities Follow market trends and report findings to Management; Implement precautionary measures and negotiate to avoid cost increases from Suppliers and implement measures to benefit from downward trends Implement creative terms and conditions that limit company’s liability while focusing on cost reduction. Determine and award business to the most desirable Supplier and do necessary data entry transactions Request competitive quotes on new and existing items, select the most desirable Supplier, and file all quotes in electronics log Work with Engineering groups to resolve issues and quote new projects as they arise Measure and maintain Supplier performance, taking necessary actions on poor performing Suppliers and awarding best Suppliers accordingly. Ensure Suppliers meet Supply Chain goals set forth in terms of quality and on time delivery Travel required with regards to Supplier visits as necessary. The engineering support position requires working closely with ship specification engineers and various other Electric Boat groups in preparing ship specification submittal packages during development and final preparation for NAVSEA/SSP approval. The logistics design tech will assist in incorporating technical and contractual approved specification changes into the ship specifications and preparing approved specifications for distribution. The logistics design tech will develop and maintain the Master Index of Reference Documents (MIRD) and other databases as necessary in support of ship Specifications as well as Specification Change Proposals (SCPs) and Specification Changes (SCs). The design tech will assist in the scheduling and coordination of internal and external specification related meetings and may be required to participate in specification reading sessions at Washington, DC. Military or technical training equivalent to an Associates' or higher degree is desirable. Six years technical writing/editing with increasing levels of responsibility required. Experience writing and/or maintaining submarine design, maintenance, technical or operational documents is desirable.The candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently and have strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational skills. Familiarity with revisions and changes to primary and sub-tier references is desirable. The candidate must have the ability to use CITIS, MS Word and Excel.
