We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Purchasing Manager to support the Purchasing Director on sourcing, purchasing and negotiating raw ingredients (food ingredients) and food packaging materials. Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Purchasing Manager to join the team in a new state-of-the-art facility in Richmond, VA. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing and managing the procurement of raw materials (packaging, ingredients) at or better than budget pricing, within the established quality standards and within professional, ethical standards. Responsibilities: ? Negotiate pricing on raw materials for inventory and contracts ? Work directly with Quality Team to obtain raw material approval for production ? Principal Duties Responsibilities: Effectively utilize Retek to generate and analyze suggested order quantities and to provide sales/order projections to the vendor community. Maintain accurate item information in Retek (i.e. discount items, new items, pallet information, lead time, etc.). Communicate status, issues and necessary system input changes across departments and divisions (Buyers, Merchandise Control, etc.) in order to attain service and turn objectives. Track and expedite inbound freight and orders. Perform necessary changes to inbound freight and orders to accommodate market changes, and ensure that products arrive in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible. Understand forecasting and utilize this knowledge to analyze shipment and sales data in order to replenish basic item quantities. Create purchase orders to facilitate timely replenishment of the Distribution Centers. Maintain and balance inventory levels within the Distribution Centers using on-hand, on-order and transfer quantities in order to meet or exceed service levels and turns. Monitor inventory at all assigned locations and recommend transfers as appropriate to eliminate overstock issues and balance inventory across the network. Review the condition of warehouse inventory levels and item status on a daily basis and monitor against a budgeted receipt plan. Place orders or makes other adjustments as needed to stay within plan.
