Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Senior Buyer Planner provides support in both the supply chain area and in SAP systems support. As such, the ideal candidate would have strong background in SAP as a certified SAP Power User specializing in the supply chain management modules, capable of facilitating and managing new system and process development and introduction, as well as optimum use of the capabilities of the SAP system. The ideal candidate would also have extensive experience and expertise in production planning, master scheduling, strategic sourcing, tactical purchasing, and project management. The position would be involved in the implementation and administration of SMI/SMOI systems (including NOCTURNE). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Support New Product Development Teams as the Materials Lead and be able to lead small projects as required from time to time. ? Oversee complex projects to completion and work effectively with little or no direct supervision. ? Source and purchase components, materials, equipment, tools, supplies and consulting services in support of production needs and the development of new products. ? Have experience in dealing with International suppliers. ? Assist in negotiating long-term agreements with key suppliers. ? Develop strategies and implement systematic improvements to optimize effective use of SAP for procurement planning and execution, as well as SMI/SMOI interfaces. ? Develop and implement demand forecasting models in SAP. ? Participate in, and where appropriate lead, multifunctional teams to develop supply chain transition strategies related to new processes, protocols, and/or system capabilities and enhancements. ? Analyze data and provide forward-looking sales information to the Manufacturing, Tactical Purchasing, and Global Sourcing functions to facilitate future capacity planning in their respective areas. ? Design and implement data gathering and reporting methods in SAP and Data Warehouse. ? Provide education and training as needed to Supply Chain personnel with respect to optimum use of SAP and SMI/SMOI system features and capabilities. ? Provide training and troubleshooting assistance to suppliers for the SAP Supplier Portal interfaces. ? Work with suppliers to establish SMI/SMOI programs, and administer those programs. ? Plan and manage outsourced production and products. ? Coordinate monthly metrics review and reporting process for IDFs and performance metrics. ? Identify and resolve master data issues related to SAP Purchasing and Planning applications. ? Participate in project management for Purchasing-related continuous improvement projects. ? Assist Materials Manager in implementing purchasing improvements. ? Prepare selected management reports and analyses at the direction of the Materials Manager. EDUCATION: BS or BA degree mandatory; specialization in Business or Operations preferred. EXPERIENCE: ? SAP Power User. ? Minimum 15 years purchasing experience required; direct experience in master scheduling, purchasing, and project management mandatory. ? Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with a medical device manufacture or ISO-certified manufacturer; working knowledge of GMP protocols and requirements preferred. ? C.P.M. or CSCP (or equivalent) certification preferred. ? Thorough understanding and working knowledge of contract management, negotiations, cost containment, inventory management, manufacturing processes and purchasing law, including the Uniform Commercial Code, required. ? Must have experience with electronic, electro-mechanical, fabricated component, and packaging purchasing. ? Must have experience in management of SMI (Supplier Managed Inventory)/SMOI (Supplier Managed & Owned Inventory) programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to stand, bend, sit and walk on a frequent basis in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
